Welcome To the Golden Oldies Web Page
Gene's career has spanned 47 years in music education as a band director, choral director and the last 26 years as Cultural Resources Director with the Fargo Public Schools. Upon retirement in 2008, Gene decided to develop the concept of a "One Man Band" to provide an outlet for his love of playing. This evolved into the concept of a "Golden Oldies" show which Gene toured for the past five years, presenting over 70 shows each year to over 20 retirement centers. In 2013 Dewey Possehl, a retired band director from Moorhead and a great jazz trumpeter joined Gene to form a "Two Man Band" with a repertoire of over 500 songs including dixieland, jazz, pops and broadway musicals. In December 2015 Deb Wald, retired choral director from Davies High School, joined the Golden Oldies Show as lead singer. The Golden Oldies continues to provide about 60 performances each year at retirement centers in the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo area.
As a spin-off to the Golden Oldies, Deb and Gene have formed a new performing ensemble named the "Golden Blend" representing a union of jazz and country western music. The Golden Blend page will provide a "feel" for what Gene and Deb can provide as musicans.
